Crime trending through cluster and hotspot analysis has become a standard practise for most crime analysts. But with need for increased operational efficiency, commanders and chiefs require insight into the effectiveness of their current efforts. In this scenario, we look at the effectiveness of a routine police patrol by merging Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL) data from a patrol car with standard crime incident reporting data. The result is a clear metric on what changes are required to increase the impact of this patrol and reduce crime in the area.
