Best practices when working with carrier CDR data

Heather Sarge, Lead Intelligence Analyst from Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, joins us to discuss her 3-stage methodology and best practices when working with carrier call detail records. Heather will go step-by-step through each stage in her process and highlight key actions you should take in order to work with CDR data more effectively. Stage 1: • Upon receiving a new request, create a new record to document actions taken/observations • Review all documentation and files from the carrier company • Reference CDR checklist Stage 2: • Process the CDR files in GeoTime Desktop • Evaluate ‘events not matching towers’ • Look for events without location information and anomalies. Stage 3: • Observe the entire dataset in 2D and 3D • Apply annotations/tags, colors, map base, and other visual elements • Use an analytical plan as a roadmap
